Education

Learning is fun with POW!

Want to learn a new skill, realise an idea, explore new techniques or develop your art portfolio? Learning with POW is absorbing, rewarding and inspiring. At the end of your experience you’ll wonder where the time went and be buzzing with ideas.

Schools

Primary and secondary school pottery workshops are a great way to get your students engaged in Art. Clay is a tactile and forgiving material thus immensely rewarding for students to interact with.

With POW, students will learn practical skills in construction, become more knowledgeable about the importance of geology, science and maths in ceramics, create a unique piece of art and have a memorable experience.

Sarah, who will be delivering the workshop(s), is a qualified Art teacher with 10 years of teaching experience. She is equipped to teach all ages and abilities.

When teaching examination students Sarah employs her knowledge and experience from being Head of a successful art department and a practising GCSE moderator.

As POW is mobile workshops can take place at your school in a classroom, hall or around the van. We will bring all the materials and equipment needed and make sure that the creative mess is contained and tidied up afterwards.

If you choose to do a series of workshops there is no need to worry about storage space as POW will transport the students work, materials and equipment back and forth.

After the workshop(s) the students’ work will be carefully transported back to the garden studio, left to dry, bisque fired, glazed and finally fired for a second time before they are ready for delivery (alternatively students can glaze their own work). This process can take between 2 and 4 weeks. Once the students have their unique and personal pottery they’ll see that it’s worth waiting for!

Examination Tuition

If you, your child or your student is studying for a GCSE, A-level or IB qualification in Art and Design POW can provide tailored and structured tuition to support and enhance portfolios.

Sarah will employ her knowledge, experience and skills from teaching and moderating these qualifications to aid the development of portfolio work and boost attainment.

The tuition process begins by ascertaining interests and aspirations, time frames and reviewing portfolios. Once a plan has been discussed lessons can commence slotting around other studies and commitments.

As POW is mobile lessons can take place at your home, school (any creative mess will be contained and tidied up) or in the garden studio in Bristol.
